Paul Colomb

Paul Colomb

A cellist who graduated from the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne in the class of François Salque, Paul Colomb grew up on the Atlantic coast, between the small medieval town of Guérande and the industrial port of Saint-Nazaire. A decorum reflecting his daily life which he shares between the study of chamber music and current scenes.

He received the Audience Award from Icarts Sessions / France Musique 2019 for his solo project “Bleue”. In 2022, he created the Bleue Quintet, a musical laboratory for 5 cellos mixing chamber music culture with improvisation and electronics.

Paul is co-founder of Duo Brady with cellist Michèle Pierre. Their first album “Plaines” was released in October 2020. During the second confinement, the duo produced the documentary “Et le violoncelle dans tout ça ?”, a collection of testimonies in words and music from cellists impacted by the health crisis. The film is relayed by Telerama, France Musique, Europe 1, Mediapart…

Paul Colomb tours on five continents and teaches, notably at the Bangalore School of Music in India in 2012. He is a trainer in cultural action at the Concerts de Poche and works with audiences far from the venues: retirement homes, penitentiary centers, hospitals, asylum seekers…
