Marie-Catherine Girod

Récital, Chamber music

Marie-Catherine Girod

Non-conformist and original in her choice of repertory, Marie-Catherine Girod has found a special niche in the musical world for her curiosity about and daring interpretations of unknown or rarely played works. Underpinned by her impeccable technique and her personal commitment, her performances have given the public the opportunity to get to know such composers as Abel Decaux, Paul Le Flem, Vincent d’Indy and Maurice Emmanuel, yet without neglecting the standard Classical and Romantic repertory, in which she excels. She has been a guest at major festivals in France and abroad, including La Folle Journée in Nantes and Tokyo, the Bagatelle and Nohant Chopin festivals, and the ‘Raritäten der Klaviermusik’ festival in Husum, Germany. She has made some forty recordings, many of which were world premieres, and has won numerous prizes, including the Grand Prix de l’Académie du Disque Français and the Grand Prix International Charles Cros. Her recent releases include a recording of music by Gabriel Dupont with the Pražák Quartet, released on Mirare (Choc de Classica). This passionate enthusiast who bears witness to her artistry at the highest level has been appointed Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres and Officier de l’Ordre du Mérite.
