At the age of twenty, Bach travelled hundreds of kilometers to meet the great Dietrich Buxtehude. Though intending to stay only a few weeks, he remained for months. The three sacred works presented on this CD are among the very first written by the young Johann Sebastian in his first posts as Kapellmeister in Mühlhausen and Weimar.
