Founded in 2001 at the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique de Paris (CNSMDP), the Chausson Trio has become an essential reference in the classical music world. The recipient of the First prize at the Weimar International Chamber Music Competition in 2005 and the \u201cRising Star\u201d award in 2007, the three musicians have recorded six albums for the CD label Mirare. Matthieu Handtschoewercker, a violinist with the Orchestre de Paris, who is also a former soloist with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg as well as a passionate chamber musician, joined the trio in 2018.<\/p>\n
The Trio performed in the most prestigious venues in the world such as Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, London Wigmore Hall, Salzburg Mozarteum, Vienna Musikverein, Munich Herkulessaal, Cologne Philharmonie, the Cit\u00e9 de la Musique, the Auditorium du Louvre and the Salle Gaveau in Paris, La Roque d\u2019Anth\u00e9ron, the St. Petersburg Philharmonia, the Moscow Conservatoire… The three musicians are regularly invited to perform during the Folles Journ\u00e9es in Nantes, Tokyo, Warsaw and Bilbao.<\/p>\n
The Chausson Trio\u2019s repertoire reflects the fondness of its members for French music and Viennese classicism. Attracted by Ernest Chausson\u2019s generous writing and poetry, its members are enthusiastic performers of Trios written by French romantic composers who are sometimes unjustly forgotten. Also fond of transcriptions, they have to their credit more than fifteen arrangements for Trios such as Ravel\u2019s La Valse or Chopin\u2019s Introduction and Brilliant Polonaise. In 2013, their large repertoire was enriched by the Triple Concertos of Beethoven and Chausson \u2013 actually a transcription of the Concert op.21 realized by composer Mathieu Lamboley.<\/p>\n
The Chausson Trio was formed at the CNSMDP, where it benefited from the teaching experience of Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Claire D\u00e9sert. Then its members joined the European Chamber Music Academy where they attended Hatto Beyerle\u2019s courses, an artist who contributed to launch their careers.
