“In 2003, the conductor Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Roth decided to found a chamber orchestra of a new kind: Les Si\u00e8cles (literally, \u2018the centuries\u2019). An ensemble unique in the world today, bringing together musicians of a new generation capable of playing both period and modern instruments, Les Si\u00e8cles situates its approach in a dynamic of synthesis, setting several centuries of musical creation in perspective in relevant and unexpected fashion.<\/p>\n
The orchestra has already appeared in Paris (at the Salle Gaveau and the church of Saint-\u00c9tienne-du- Mont), in Nantes at La Folle Journ\u00e9e (in a concert televised live on Arte), Lisbon (Centro Cultural de Bel\u00e8m), Perpignan, and Cambrai (Juventus Festival), among other cities. Its 2007\/08 season includes performances in Nantes, Lisbon, Tokyo, Paris, London, and Nanterre.<\/p>\n
Les Si\u00e8cles is also the main orchestra for the new TV show \u00ab Presto \u00bb, presented by Pierre Charvet, which will be broadcast from September 2007 on French public channel France 2. The dynamic show puts classical music in a new light.<\/p>\n
