Since its creation in 1997 in Toulouse, Les \u00e9l\u00e9ments chamber choir has been involved in an ongoing and challenging musical project, performing contemporary creations based on ancient works, driven by its founder, Jo\u00ebl Suhubiette.<\/p>\n
This approach of performing ancient music has been enriched through musicological research over the past few decades, the performance of the great choral repertoire of the twentieth century, the requests made each year to today\u2019s composers, even the diversity of artistic forms taken on by the choir\u2014the a cappella repertoire, the \u201cvocal concerto\u201d with an ensemble of soloists and instruments, the oratorio or the opera\u2014it is the exploration of such varied themes that gives Les \u00e9l\u00e9ments its \u201cown identity\u201d among the French choral scene.<\/p>\n
Voted Ensemble of the year at the \u2018Victoires de la Musique classique\u2019 in 2006, the chamber choir is regularly hailed by critics for its ability to master a variety of repertoires, conducted with precision and conviction by Jo\u00ebl Suhubiette, always mindful of \u201ccombining loyalty to the original work with emotion\u201d.<\/p>\n
Emmanuel Krivine, J\u00e9r\u00e9mie Rhorer, Louis Langr\u00e9e and Josep Pons are among the renowned conductors who enjoy collaborating with the ensemble, recognizing its \u201cversatility and accessibility\u201d as well as the \u201cbeauty of sound, purity and transparency\u201d.<\/p>\n
L\u2019Op\u00e9ra Comique and the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Champs-Elys\u00e9es also enlist the choir\u2019s services for stage productions.<\/p>\n
Each season, Les \u00c9l\u00e9ments perform in Paris and on the most prominent French stages, at festivals, on international tours and, of course, in Toulouse and the Occitanie region where it is has been the choir-in-residence for Odyssud-Blagnac since 2001 and at the Abbey School in Sor\u00e8ze since 2006. Under the direction of Jo\u00ebl Suhubiette or when invited to record with other conductors, Les \u00e9l\u00e9ments record ancient polyphony in a cappella, the great baroque and classical oratorios and the great works of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries for record labels such as L\u2019empreinte digitale, Hortus, Virgin Classics, Ligia Digital and Na\u00efve.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
