Founded by Benjamin Perrot and Florence Bolton, La R\u00eaveuse is an ensemble of solo musicians that works on the heritage of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, a period rich in artistic experiments and inventions of all kinds.<\/p>\n
La R\u00eaveuse is frequently invited to appear in prestigious venues in France (Auditorium de Radio France, La Folle Journ\u00e9e de Nantes, Les Concerts Parisiens, Fontevraud Abbey, Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l\u2019Ath\u00e9n\u00e9e, the Chambord and Radio-France Montpellier festivals, the Sc\u00e8nes Nationales of Orl\u00e9ans, Blois, and Quimper, the TNP de Villeurbanne, etc.) and abroad, notably in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Russia, Japan, the United States and Canada. The ensemble\u2019s recordings have all been acclaimed by the French and international press and received numerous awards, including fff T\u00e9l\u00e9rama, Choc Classica of the Year, Choix de France Musique, 5 croches on Pizzicato, selection in the Bestenliste for the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and Editor\u2019s Choice in Gramophone, among many others. Wishing to forge links between the different artistic disciplines, the ensemble often collaborates with the world of the theatre and literature in order to give a new slant to classic texts. Among the notable productions it has premiered are L\u2019Autre Monde ou les \u00c9tats et Empires de la Lune by Cyrano de Bergerac and Les Caract\u00e8res de La Bruy\u00e8re with the actor and director Benjamin Lazar, Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme by Moli\u00e8re\/Lully with Catherine Hiegel and Fran\u00e7ois Morel, Monsieur de Pourceaugnac by Moli\u00e8re\/Lully with Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l\u2019\u00c9ventail (Rapha\u00ebl de Angelis) and L\u2019Heure verte, a show focusing on the poets of the Cabaret du Chat Noir, with the composer Vincent Bouchot. La R\u00eaveuse also works regularly with youth audiences: in 2016 it created Jack et le haricot magique, a puppet show based on illustrations by the artist Walter Crane, which has enjoyed great success ever since. Alongside this, the ensemble has developed over the past few years a series of concert-lectures, aimed at museums and media libraries, which bring out parallels between music and painting of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Each year, La R\u00eaveuse undertakes educational and outreach projects with primary and secondary school students. One recent project, Les Lettres persanes revisit\u00e9es, with migrants studying at schools in Orl\u00e9ans, was a finalist for the Prix de l\u2019Audace Culturelle et Artistique 2016.<\/p>\n
La R\u00eaveuse has also invested in knowledge transfer through the creation of Les Ateliers de Musique Ancienne (Early Music Workshops), which aim to introduce the music and arts of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries to a wide audience through a range of activities, including courses and educational projects at the Conservatoire d\u2019Orl\u00e9ans (intended for young musicians embarking on a professional career and experienced amateurs), lectures and \u2018discovery concerts\u2019. In 2017 La R\u00eaveuse was awarded the Gold Medal of the Acad\u00e9mie Arts-Sciences-Lettres for its overall achievement. In 2018 it obtained the label \u2018European Cultural Heritage Year\u2019 attributed by the Ministry of Culture and the label LEONARDO DA VINCI, 500 Years of Renaissance(S] in the Centre-Val de Loire Region. Each autumn La R\u00eaveuse organises a tour of rural areas in the Centre-Val de Loire Region on board the Op\u00e9rabus, a bus converted into a mobile concert hall. This project has won many prizes: Prix D\u00e9fis FFEA 2018, Prix Mobilit\u00e9 & Culture of the Fondation PSA 2018, Prix 10 000 Volts of the Fondation EDF, Coup de C\u0153ur of the Fondation SNCF, special mention at Les Chatons d\u2019Or 2019.<\/p>\n
La R\u00eaveuse receives support from the Minist\u00e8re de la Culture (DRAC Centre\u2013Val de Loire) and the R\u00e9gion Centre\u2013Val de Loire as an \u2018ensemble conventionn\u00e9\u2019, and from the Ville d\u2019Orl\u00e9ans. M\u00e9c\u00e9nat Musical Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale is the principal patron of La R\u00eaveuse. The ensemble\u2019s vocal activity also receives support from the Fondation Orange.
