The violinist Ir\u00e8ne Duval, born in 1992 to a French father and Korean mother, has performed with numerous French and European orchestras, among them the Dresdner Philharmonie, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Churs\u00e4chsische Philharmonie Bad Elster and the Orchestre d\u2019Auvergne, and such conductors as Robert Trevino, Michael Sanderling and Maxim Emlyanichev.<\/p>\n
She also performs with the pianists Pierre-Yves Hodique and Vassilis Varvaresos and the cellist Aur\u00e9lien Pascal, and forms the duo La Rose et le R\u00e9s\u00e9da with the violinist Virgil Boutellis-Taft. Among the many festivals in which she has taken part are La Folle Journ\u00e9e in Nantes, La Folle Journ\u00e9e in Japan, the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades, the Festival de Nohant, the Salon Livres et Musique de Deauville, the Festival de la Roque d\u2019Anth\u00e9ron and the Festival Les Vacances de Monsieur Haydn.<\/p>\n
Ir\u00e8ne began the violin at the age of seven, studying with Jean-Jacques Kantorow and Suzanne Gessner before going on to the CNSM de Paris, where she worked with Roland Daugareil and Daria Hovora. In 2013 she completed her Master\u2019s degree with distinction (mention tr\u00e8s bien \u00e0 l\u2019unanimit\u00e9 avec f\u00e9licitations du jury). Since 2014 she has been an advanced student with Mihaela Martin in Further Master Studies at the Kronberg Academy in Germany. Her competition successes include the First Prize and Audience Prize at the Avignon International Violin Competition (2009) and First Prize and Manfred Scherzer Special Prize at the Markneukirchen International Competition (2011).<\/p>\n
She was named R\u00e9v\u00e9lation Classique de l\u2019Adami in 2013.
