Florent Boffard has been a guest at the leading festivals (Salzburg, Berlin, Bath, Aldeburgh, La Roque d\u2019Anth\u00e9ron etc.) and has performed under the direction of Pierre Boulez, Simon Rattle, Leon Fleisher and P\u00e9ter E\u00f6tv\u00f6s with the Orchestre National de Lyon, the Philharmonisches Orchester Freiburg, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, among others. As a soloist with the Ensemble Intercontemporain from 1988 to 1999, he worked with the foremost composers of our time and premiered pieces by Boulez, Donatoni, Ligeti and others.<\/p>\n
In 2010, he presented the programme \u2018Chopin, une \u00e9coute aujourd\u2019hui\u2019 live on Arte at La Folle Journ\u00e9e de Nantes. His concern to help the public understand the contemporary repertory better has led him to conduct numerous workshops and concert presentations, particularly at the Festival de La Roque d\u2019Anth\u00e9ron. He also wrote the film Schoenberg, le malentendu, which accompanied his recording of Schoenberg\u2019s piano works released by Mirare in 2013. This recording was awarded \u20185 Diapasons\u2019 by Diapason magazine and selected as \u2018Editor\u2019s Choice\u2019 by Gramophone.<\/p>\n
His other recordings include Boulez\u2019s Structures for two pianos with Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Berio\u2019s Sequenza IV for piano (DGG), the \u00c9tudes for piano of Debussy and Bart\u00f3k, and Faur\u00e9\u2019s Violin Sonatas with Isabelle Faust (Harmonia Mundi).<\/p>\n
In 2001, the Forberg-Schneider Foundation (Munich) awarded Florent Boffard its Belmont Prize for his commitment to contemporary music. He has taught at the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique de Lyon and at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart.
