Edwin Crossley-Mercer has appeared worldwide in the most prestigious opera houses and concert venues. After having studied sacred music in Versailles as well as the operatic and lied repertoire with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in Berlin, he made his debuts at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in 2006, notably under the baton of Daniel Barenboim in Doktor Faustus, Der Freisch\u00fctz and Die Lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow).<\/p>\n
In 2009, he sang the role of Guglielmo (Cos\u00ec fan tutte) at the Festival d\u2019Aix-en-Provence. During the next season, he made his debut at the Op\u00e9ra National de Paris in Ariadne auf Naxos (Harlekin) by R. Strauss. Since then he has been featured in numerous operatic works at the Paris Op\u00e9ra Bastille and Palais Garnier: The Magic Flute, Carmen, Arabella, The Merry Widow, La damnation de Faust, Cos\u00ec fan tutte, The Child and the Spells, The Gallant Indies…
\nHis particular fondness for oratorio and recital repertoires has always been an essential part of his musical life \u2013 especially when touring New York (Carnegie Hall) and Paris \u2013 at the \u201cFolles journ\u00e9es\u201c de Nantes and Tokyo, in Montevideo and Saint Petersburg. In those places, he has performed Lieder and songs along with numerous accompanists. He also sang under the baton of prestigious conductors, with orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Wiener Symphoniker, Orchestre National de Radio France, Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, etc.<\/p>\n
A recipient of the 2007 Award of the HSBC Foundation and the First prize winner of the Nadia and Lili Boulanger Competition, Edwin was twice nominated for the Grammy Awards and has recorded numerous baroque works, including Nadia Boulanger\u2019s songs for the CD label Delos. He has collaborated with the American composer Michael Linton, with whom he has recorded two albums (Carmina Catulli and Oscar Wilde Songs).
