Carlos Mena was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, in 1971, and studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis under Richard Levitt and Ren\u00e9 Jacobs. He has sung for audiences around the world in such venues as the Vienna Musikverein, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Champs-\u00c9lysees, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Felsenreitschule and Gro\u00dfes Festspielhaus in Salzburg, the Barbican Centre in London, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Teatro Col\u00f3n in Buenos Aires, Opera City Hall in Tokyo, Symphony Hall in Osaka, the Sydney Opera House and the Melbourne Concert Hall. He has made more than fifty recordings, several of which have won international prizes, and is interested in both \u2018historically informed performance\u2019 and contemporary repertory.
