Why «Geister Duo»? The question often came up during the concerts. The name comes from Robert Schumann’s last piano work, the Geistervariationen. whose theme Johannes Brahms. A close friend of the Schumanns, used to compose his own Variations op. 23 for piano four hands. This recording proposes a bridge between these two composers who are dear to us, and whose imagination is reflected in our duo’s name. We have associated Anton Dvorák and his Bohemian Forests (Aus Dem Böhmerwalde), a relativelv unknown work but for us one of the masterpieces of the literature of the genre in all its orchestral dimension, full of folk inspiration, but also rich in a variety of colours premonitory in the twilight of the 19th century.
